Create a new blogpost called 'Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things analysis'.
1) Choose THREE aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting and setting) and write a short paragraph for each about the denotation and connotation and what is communicated to the audience.
For example:
Costume: The character at the start is wearing a white lab coat. This suggests to the audience... he might be testing things on something or people such as objects.
Lighting: flickering lights , all darkness
Setting: dark ,dull ,shady ,scary, shadowy, brooding , nightmarish
Props: bike , games
Actor placement/movement/expression: shocked ,worried ,scared ,nauseous
The costume shows they was testing something in a lab and something might of went to far which lead to them being in danger and failed there testing on objects or people. Something failed in there lab as the guy came running out in his clothes with fear on his face.
The lighting shows how its flickering; how there was a rapid change in light output of a lamp.
It also shows how all the lights started desolating and my vision faded from seeing the light as everything became intense in a sudden change.
The setting was brooding, shadowy and nightmarish as all the light slowly started to fade and the back round started to change to scary and dull because of how they changed to different areas.
The props were bikes as they used it to go home and used it to get to there friends house. They also had a game they all played together which showed them something and lead to something really bad for them as they kept assuming things happening.
There expressions were anxious as they didn't know what happened, and what was going on due to all the flickering lights and noises. They all slowly became frustrated as weird things kept happening and leading them to danger. There movement with them running away not knowing what's behind them and what could happen.
